TaM is a simple, human-centred platform that helps people find the right therapist for them.

Finding a therapist can feel overwhelming. Many people struggle to describe how they are feeling, don’t know what kind of therapy might help, or are put off by clinical language and long lists of labels. TaM was created to make this process easier, clearer, and more personal.

Instead of asking you to tick boxes or diagnose yourself, TaM lets you describe what’s going on for you in your own words. TaM then explains different types of therapy in plain, everyday English and matches you with therapists whose experience, approach, and practice fit what you’re looking for.

Therapists on TaM create detailed professional profiles through a secure portal, sharing how they work, who they support, and what they specialise in. This allows TaM to make more thoughtful, human-led matches — a bit like how dating apps match people, but focused on care, understanding, and fit.

TaM is a therapist-matching service only. It does not provide therapy, counselling, diagnosis, or crisis support. Any therapy you choose to engage in is directly between you and your chosen therapist.

OVERVIEW
TaM (Therapy A Match) helps you find a therapist that matches your needs. We're committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data.
TaM is operated by YourLifeStep Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.
THE SHORT VERSION
We don't create accounts or store personal information. Conversations are processed by AI but not permanently stored. Location is optional and never tracked. Your saved matches stay on your device.
WHAT DATA WE PROCESS
Conversation Text
When you chat with TaM, your messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to understand your needs and suggest therapist matches.
Messages are processed in real-time to provide responses. TaM does not store your conversation history. Anthropic retains API logs for up to 30 days for abuse prevention and service integrity. Your conversations are NOT used to train AI models. No identifying information (name, email, account ID) is sent with your messages.
Location (Optional)
If you choose to share your location for in-person therapist matching, it is used only to calculate distance to therapists. It is not stored or sent to any third party. It is not sent to the AI service. You can skip this and still use the app.
Saved Matches
When you save a therapist to your matches, this data is stored locally on your device only. It is encrypted using your device's secure storage. It is never uploaded to any server. It is deleted if you uninstall the app.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Anthropic (AI Processing)
We use Anthropic's Claude API to power the matching conversation. You can read Anthropic's privacy policy at https://www.anthropic.com/privacy. Data is retained for a maximum of 30 days for abuse prevention. It is not used for model training. Anthropic cannot identify you personally.
Supabase (Therapist Directory)
Therapist profiles are hosted on Supabase. We only fetch therapist data; we don't send your data there. Standard server logs may record requests. No personal user data is stored.
WHAT WE DON'T DO
We do not create user accounts. We do not store your conversations. We do not track your location. We do not sell or share your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not use your data for AI training.
YOUR RIGHTS UNDER UK GDPR
As a UK resident, you have the following rights:
Access: You have the right to know what data we process about you, as detailed in this policy.
Rectification: You have the right to request correction of any inaccurate data.
Erasure: You have the right to request deletion of any data we hold. Please contact us to make this request.
Restriction: You have the right to request we limit how we use your data.
Portability: You have the right to receive your data in a portable format.
Objection: You have the right to object to certain types of processing.
Withdraw consent: You can stop using the app at any time.
Since TaM does not store personal data, most of these rights are satisfied by design. If you have any concerns, please contact us.
DATA RETENTION
Conversations: Not stored by TaM. Anthropic retains logs for up to 30 days.
Location: Not stored. Used only during your session.
Saved matches: Stored on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
TaM is designed for adults seeking therapy. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you are under 18, please do not use this app without a parent or guardian's involvement.
SECURITY
We take reasonable measures to protect your data. All data transmitted between the app and our services uses HTTPS encryption. Saved matches are stored using your device's encrypted secure storage. API keys and secrets are stored securely on our servers, never in the app.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
THERAPIST PORTAL
If you're a therapist using our registration portal, that service collects additional information including your name, email address, professional qualifications, and practice details. This data is stored securely in our database, used to display your profile to potential clients, subject to review and approval by our team, and retained until you request removal.
